ERS REAPER Data |
QA shows baseline: | RP01 (May 2014) |
The REAPER product data set is a result of a complete reprocessing in 2014 of ESA's 12 year archive of ERS-1 and ERS-2's Altimetry data to produce:
- A uniform data set produced using a single processing chain.
- Cross-calibrated with ENVISAT RA-2 products.
- Use of the best available algorithms, correction models and auxiliary data.
- Use of a new regenerated precise orbit.
- Production of L1b, L2 GDR and SGDR products in a netCDF format, compatible with future Sentinel-3 formats.
20-Year Altimeter Record (ERS-1, ERS-2 and ENVISAT)
ERS-1, ERS-2 and ENVISAT provide a 20 year global altimetry record. Each mission overlapped its predecessor, allowing cross-calibration of the altimetry data to a single reference mission. Use of the new REAPER data set and the latest ENVISAT RA-2 products allows the full 20 year altimetry set to be compared for the first time.
ERS-1 operated in a number of different orbital configurations (phases). ERS-2 and ENVISAT operated primarily with a 35-day repeat cycle.
